Woodland Glade

This garden was carved out of existing woodland. A play space is pressed into the earth, defined by landscape timbers and further enclosed by allowing native ferns to creep up right to its edge. The woodland character is reinforced by a ground plane of soft mulch, while the existing mature black locusts and red maples provide a summer canopy over the entire yard. An adjacent mahogany deck sits low to the ground and provides a place to sit and relax and watch the children play. A fence of woven bamboo provides privacy from the neighbor, allowing a glimpse of what lies beyond while capturing the shadows that fall on it.
